 Welcome
The Baden-Württemberg Council on Sustainable Development  (Nachhaltigkeitsbeirat Baden-Württemberg) is an independent advisory board established by the government of the federal state (Bundesland) Baden-Württemberg in April 2002. It consists of twelve scientists who work in different fields significant for a sustainable development.

The council’s task is to accompany the implementation of the “Environmental Plan”, approved by the Baden-Württemberg government in December 2000. Therefore the council evaluates this environmental plan by giving recommendations for monitoring and adapting the objectives and measures and he examines the environmental situation and overall trends in the region.

Its findings are reported to the government at regular intervals (every 3 years). Besides, he submits special reports to the government containing recommendations for particular problems concerning the sustainable development in Baden-Württemberg. Up to now special reports were published on climate protection (2003), land use management (2004) and waste reduction (2005).
